Coming to Guangzhou?
We will meet you.

The Canton Fair runs twice a year, ten minutes from our office. We plan itineraries, interpret, accompany buyers through the halls and the wholesale markets, and turn what you find into an order that actually ships.

What it is

The largest trade fair on earth.

The China Import and Export Fair — universally called the Canton Fair — has been held in Guangzhou since 1957. It runs twice a year, in spring and autumn, across three phases covering different product categories, in an exhibition complex large enough that walking it properly takes days.

For a buyer it is the fastest way in the world to see a category. For an unprepared buyer it is overwhelming, exhausting, and easy to leave with a folder of business cards and no orders.

The three phases

Go to the right week.

The Fair is split into three phases, each roughly five days with breaks between. Flying in for the wrong phase is the most common and most expensive planning error. Confirm current dates on the official site before booking flights.

Phase 1

Industrial & technology

Electronics, machinery, hardware, vehicles and parts, building materials, lighting, chemicals, new energy.

Phase 2

Home & consumer

Furniture, home décor, kitchenware, tableware, gifts, ceramics, garden, toys.

Phase 3

Textiles & lifestyle

Clothing, textiles, shoes, bags, health and personal care, office supplies, medical.

Not sure which phase covers your product? Send us the product and we will tell you which week to book — and whether the Fair is even the right place for it. For some categories the wholesale markets are more productive.

Practical advice

What we tell first-time visitors.

  • Register in advance. Buyer registration online is far quicker than on-site.
  • Book hotels early. Prices in Guangzhou rise sharply during the Fair and availability disappears.
  • Wear proper shoes. This sounds trivial. It is not — the complex is measured in kilometres.
  • Photograph everything with the booth number in frame. By day three the samples blur together.
  • Do not order at the booth. Collect, compare afterwards, then negotiate from a position of information.
  • Leave a day for the markets. For many categories Zhongda or Yide will beat the Fair on both price and range.
